MHA asks JK Govt to finalize modalities vis-à-vis retaining PRCs of females | BJP wakes up to address concerns of Jammu region | | Early Times Report
Jammu, July 3: The BJP led Central government has asked the state government to frame an Act for retaining the Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) of the females of the State , who get married to a non-state subject. The Central government has also directed to frame the laws on her kin. "The BJP government is quite serious on it. It is right on the agenda of the Central government to get the issue resolved at the earliest. The party feels it will set the tone of narrative that it's serious in resolving the long pending issues and also the sensitivities of the Jammu region, " said a senior central BJP leader. The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed the state government to work out the modalities on this pending Act and get it passed at the earliest or at least issue and ordinance. The sources said that the BJP central leadership has also directed the state unit to start a campaign for getting the ordinance issued at the earliest and also start a campaign to educate the people about the need for it. "The state leadership will be briefed soon about the development. It will be made out a major issue in the State and a pressure will be built to get the state government issue it as soon as possible. We are anticipating dissenting voices especially from the separatists on this account . But we have plan in place to counter it," said the source. The BJP feels that a perception is being made by the Congress and the other Jammu based opposition that it is succumbing to the agenda and ideology of the PDP and there is dire to need to counter it, especially after the bill on J&K Alienation of land and transfer of property act. "The party has taken a serious beating on the bill. It has not only exposed the immaturity of the state leadership but has given and impression that party will further dilute its ideology just to remain in power. To counter it and regain the turf the party has decided to go all out on the PRC for women and get it done at the earliest," said the source. |
