Abdullahs can't insult our martyrs | Uri attack | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Oct 3: The loss of power has rattled the National Conference. Ever since its massive defeat in the 2014 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, the three Abdullahs have been making controversial statements, all aimed at fomenting troubles in Kashmir and creating hatred between Kashmiris and the very generous Delhi. They have been questioning the political status of J&K vis-à-vis India, criticizing our brave army, batting for Pakistan and indulging in activities which in no way help mitigate the hardships of the common people. They have been making statements, which instead of harmonizing inter-regional and inter-communal relations are only further embittering the inter-regional and inter-communal relations. All of their statements are Kashmir-centric, Pakistan-centric and one-community-centric and it appears they have jumped on to the bandwagons of Syed Ali Shah Geelani. The other day, the NC crossed all the lines and accused the outraged and wounded nation of blowing the September 18 Uri attack out-of-proportion. Earlier, he had suggested that it was not Pakistan and its terrorist outfits which caused the Uri attack and that it was the handiwork of India and the Indian Army. What provoked the NC's additional general secretary Mustafa Kamal to make such an outrageous statement was the cancellation of the scheduled SAARC meeting at Islamabad in November after India refused to attend it and the countries like Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Bhutan followed suit condemning the scourge of terrorism. Reacting to the postponement or cancellation whatever one may call it, Mustafa Kamal said it was "very unfortunate and not prudent". "It amounts to bringing an end to the regional forum in its infancy, which had great potential of becoming a regional economic power with free trade and travel among the members," he further said. No one would have raised objection if he had ended at that but he committed an unpardonable offence when he rubbed salt on the wounded nation by saying that India blowing the Uri attack out of proportion. "The Uri fidayeen attack was being 'blown out of proportion to stoke up emotions' within the country, he said. Uri attack was not a terrorist attack; it was an act of war waged by Pakistan on India. It took away precious lives of our 19 jawans, two from Jammu. It was an attack that shook the entire nation. Credit goes to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who appreciated the national sentiment, declared that India will never forget these killings and that India will avenge the Uri attack and martyrdom of our soldiers. He stood the ground firmly and ordered surgical operations across the LoC and in PoJK - an operation that left many Pakistani terrorists and soldiers dead with all of our jawans of the Dogra and Bihar Regiments playing the heroic role. By saying what the NC said, the NC has proved that it is insensitive. Jammu and Ladakh will not forgive the Abdullahs. For, they can swallow anything but not insult to the martyrs. |
