Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 3: Fast Track Court presiding officer Kishore Kumar has rejected the bail application of a rape accused. Girdhari Lal, son of Punnu Ram of Rajiv Nagar was alleged to involed in a rape case. A complaint against was lodged by the victim on November 15, 2014 with Narwal police post, stating therein that she lived in a rented accommodation at Rajiv Nagar where Girdhari also resided. She alleged that she was passing through the street at about 5.30 pm when Girdhari appeared on the scene and requested her to cook food for him as there was nobody at home. When she entered the room, Girdhari bolted the door of the room from inside, caught hold of her and then raped her, she alleged, saying that she raised hue and cry but no one came to her rescue. Taking cognizance of the matter, police had registered a case against the accused under sections 376 and 342 of RPC. After hearing the two sides, the court observed that offences of abduction and rape were the most serious offences against women. "Letting the accused on bail in such offences if prima facie appears to be committed, it would definitely have deleterious effect on the mind of the general public and would encourage re-occurrence of such crime," the court said. With these observations, the court rejected the bail application of the accused. |
