CGPWA honors elderly members on 'Elders Day' | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 3: The Central Government Pensioners Welfare Association (CGPWA) J&K today honored elderly members during a special felicitation ceremony organized to celebrate International Elders' Day at Press Club Jammu. About 50 members attended the function besides a few special invitees from the civil society and who were honored also included the family members of the deceased senior members. The family members of pensioners namely Late Dwarka Nath Gupta IAS ( retd) S Teja Singh IAS (retd), H L Abrol IFS (retd) and M N Sehgal GSI (Retd) were also felicitated. V P Sharma Patron of the Association who presided the function also presented copies of Pensioners' Journal 2016 and Members' Directory to the family pensioners along with copies of Govt. Orders regarding 7th CPC implementation pertaining to the option for receiving their pension dues directly from Govt. of India through CPAO. Grand veteran- 86-years old and senior most member of the Association, M M Nanda of GSI was also honored by the Association in recognition of his active participation in weekly meetings in spite of mature age. In his address J K Vaid, General Secretary apprised about the latest Office Memoranda issued by Govt of India in respect of pensioners. Earlier R L Kampasi, Secretary gave a brief background of the Elders Day. Meanwhile K B Jandial, Executive Committee Member threw light on the help being extended by the Association to elder members and senior pensioners who are unable to attend weekly meetings of the Association every Monday. He also mentioned that the Day Care Centre which has been established near CGHS Wellness Centre, Exhibition Ground here, has been upgraded with the assistance of J&K Police and also advised senior Pensioners to avail the facility of Day Care Centre. Central Government Pensioners Welfare Association (CGPWA) J&K was formed in 1994 and was registered in July 1995 with a score of members from 3 to 4 services and later its membership swelled to 295 representing 33 central services, including a large chunk from AIS comprising IAS, IPS andIFS. In the end the Vice President CGPWA, B K Raina, presented vote of thanks. |
