NC projects itself as only alternative to handle Kashmir | Centre pays no heed, says no to Governor's rule in JK | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 17: Despite working overtime to project itself as the only alternative to handle Kashmir, the opposition National Conference has not succeeded in convincing the Centre to impose Governor's rule in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources told Early Times that NC has intensified the campaign to ensure that present JK government led by PDP is dismissed and Governor's rule is imposed in J&K. "A few NC leaders were seen hobnobbing with BJP leaders in Delhi a few days ago and were trying to convey it to them that National Conference is the only party which can rule Jammu and Kashmir," said a source.
He said that a few NC leaders have got it conveyed to the central BJP leadership that NC knows how to deal with people of Kashmir. "In 2010 when NC was in power it crushed a bigger uprising than the present one by tracking and arresting the separatists who were behind the unrest that time. This time around the PDP led government is clueless about who is calling the shots and who are the people issuing the calendars and orchestrating the street protests," a source quoted...

Delhi needs to grant citizenship rights to Pak refugees | 70 years is too long a period | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 17: It was 70 years ago that victims of two-nation theory in Pakistan migrated to Jammu to save their lives, dignity and culture hoping that they would be treated as citizens, and not subjects. Sadly, however, all the successive governments in Jammu and Kashmir, including the present one of which the so-called nationalist BJP is also a part have flatly refused to treat them as citizens of the state. They do not have the rights which the permanent residents of the state enjoy. They are Indian citizenship but citizens of Jammu and Kashmir subjects.
The result is that they continue to lead a wretched life in various parts of Jammu province, especially in Ka...
