Jammu, Feb 2: Jammu University SC/ST Employees Association has urged upon the Vice Chancellor Jammu University to constitute a standing committee for SC/ST so that all the burning issues of the category gets resolved.
In a meeting held here at University today, President of the Association R.L. Kaith said that after letters by the Governor House, the University Grants Commission (UGC) and National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) too have written to the Vice-Chancellor about the constitution of the said committee but no one has come forward to take this noble step as yet.
Association also demanded representation for SC/ST in various bodies of the University like University Council, Syndicate, Academic Council, Establishment Committee, Selection Committees, House Allotment Committee, etc., as per the UGC instructions given to JU in 2008.
Besides, the Association appealed the Governor N.N. Vohra (who also happens to be Chancellor of University of Jammu) to appoint new Vice-Chancellor of the University from amongst the teaching faculty of JU.
Prominent among others who attended the meeting included Choudhary Shah Alam, Surinder Kumar Shavotra, Surjeet Singh Heer, Om Parkash, Paras Ram, Mohal Lal, Kulddep Kumar, Milkhi Ram Malhotra and Sukhdev Bhagat and others. |
