SRINAGAR, Feb 2: All Migrant Camps Coordination Committee (AMCCC) has taken a dig at the decision of senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad to fight the Rajya Sabha elections from one of the four seats falling vacant in the state.
Talking to Early Times, AMCCC Chairman, Desh Rattan Pandita said that Azad has crossed all limits of morality by seeking support of National Conference for an entry to the Rajya Sabha. He said Azad referred to NC leaders like Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah as thieves and then sought their support for his entry to House of elders.
"During the rallies for assembly elections Azad was all fire against NC leaders and referred to the party as party of thieves. He on record said that Jammu & Kashmir could not progress due to the loot and plunder carried out by Abdullah family over the past many decades. How come he sought support of the same party for his re-entry into Rajya Sabha," said Pandita.
The AMCCC Chairman said that Azad should have gone for an introspection following his defeat in last year's Lok Sabha elections from Udhampur-Doda parliamentary seat at the hands of Dr. Jitendra Singh of Bharatiya Janta Party. He said that Azad lost the election against a political novice like Dr. Jitendra and as such should have for sometime remained away from electoral politics.
"Azad has already brought bad name to his party and it seems that there would be more embarrassment for him since he is all set to lose the RS polls. He has lost credibility among the masses but still then he claims to be an honest and upright politician who he is not," said Pandita.
The AMCCC Chairman asked the legislators not to vote for Azad for the RS seat and said that chance should be given to a fresh face so that there is some light at the end of the tunnel. He said that giving repeated chances to beaten politicians like Azad would not be good for the future of the state with people being the ultimate sufferers.
Pertinently Ghulam Nabi Azad of Congress, Fayaz Ahmad Mir and Nazir Ahmad Laway of Peoples Democratic Party, Nasir Aslam Wani and Sajad Ahmad Kitchloo of National Conference and Shamsher Singh Manhas and Chander Mohan Sharma of Bharatiya Janta Party are going to fight the elections for the four Rajya Sabha seats of Jammu & Kashmir.
