Jammu, Feb 2: Government SPMR College of Commerce and Young Star won their respective matches to move into the next round of quarterfinals in the ongoing IIIrd Christmas Soccer Championship, organised jointly by Christian Sports Organisation and J&K Police at GGM Science College ground, here today.
In the first match, Commerce College defeated Hiranagar Club by three goals to one. Vinod struck twice netting the ball in the third and 27th minute while Ankit Gupta added other goal in the 23rd minute. From Hiranagar Club, Sahil Partap netted the only goal in the 63rd minute of the match to reduce the margin.
Meanwhile, in other match of the day, Young Star Club trounced East United Club 2-1. Though East United took the first lead when Vikas netted the ball in the 15th minute, yet Young Star fought back and clinched the close game. Earlier, Tanish brought in the equalizer for Young Star in the 43rd minute and then Kavish helped the side take lead in 63rd to make it a 2-1 win.
Today's matches officiated by the technical penal comprising Harnit Singh, Ranjay Kumar, Javed Ahmed, Bilal Ahmad and Feroz Ahmed. |
