KATHUA, Feb 02: Sabi Cricket Club Hoshiarpur and Amritsar Club won their respective matches to advance into the next round of the Vth J&K Police Martyrs' Memorial North Zone Inter-Club Twenty20 Cricket Tournament underway at Sports Stadium, here today. Earlier, Sabi Club defeated J&K Police XI by four wickets. Batting first, J&K Police set a target of 124 runs for nine wickets. Shashi played fine innings of 42 runs coming off 26 balls. Satish added 18 runs to the total. In reply, Sabi Club chased the total in 18.4 overs losing six wickets. Tarun played unbeaten innings of 31 runs and was named man of the match. He was presented with a cash prize of Rs 1000. Meanwhile, in another scheduled match of the day, Amritsar Club outplayed Kathua Cricket Club by a huge margin of 108 runs. Batting first, Amritsar Club set a big total of 207 runs with Abhishek Sharma being top scorer with 84 runs coming off just 37 balls. Mohit Handa contributed 41-ball 61 runs to the total. Later, chasing a target of over 10 runs per over, Kathua Club could not cross the half way mark and bowled out for 99 runs. Abhishek of Amritsar Club was obvious choice for the man of the match title. He was given away the cash prize of Rs 1000 and trophy by special guest, Senior Superintendent of Police Kathua. |
