Early Times Report
jammu, Aug 16 : An IGP, whose name already stands cleared for a posting in NIA, has surprisingly been given the assignment of undergoing a training programme in Hyderabad police training academy. "This has been done due to the shortage of police officers in the state," police sources said, adding that the state was not in a position to spare its senior officer for the training course. According to the home department's order No 333, four police officers - IGP Mukesh Singh, Jagjit Kumar, DIG (traffic, Kashmir) Alok Kumar and DIG (Udhampur-Reasi range) Surinder Gupta - are being sent to Hyderabad to receive training. Instead of sending another officer, the police headquarters preferred (PHQ) to send Mukesh to Hyderabad because he was already leaving J&K for the central deputation and hence would not have been of any help in the state, sources said. A day after his name was finalised for the training, order No 335 of his central deputation was issued, the sources added. Now, Mukesh would have to go to Hyderabad because the order of his training was issued a day before the order of his central deputation. He and three other officers would be undergoing a training programme of four weeks. Thereafter, all of them would go abroad for another assignment. Sources said since the state was already faced with the shortage of officers, it was not in a position to spare its any more senior officer (as three are already being sent to Hyderabad with Mukesh) under the prevailing law and order situation in J&K, especially after the militant attacks at Udhampur and in different areas of the valley. By "wittingly" including the name of Mukesh in the list of four officers, PHQ would now be in a position to utilise the services of the one whom he replaced, the sources added. |
