Govt to axe 50 more corrupt officials 8/17/2015 12:33:03 AM Early Times Report Srinagar, Aug 16: The Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is understood to have given his nod to axe 50 more corrupt officials whose names figure in the second list prepared by various agencies. The PDP-BJP government has already dismissed 63 officials on the charges of corruption. Sources told Early Times that the high-level panel headed by the Chief Secretary Mohammad Iqbal Khanday which was constituted by the state government to examine the corruption cases against the tainted officers has submitted the second list of corrupt officials to Chief Minister's Secretariat. "The Chief Minister has forwarded the list to the Chief Secretary office for further action. The government is likely to take action in this regard soon." sources said, adding, "Nearly names of 50 officials figure in the second list." "The reason for coming out strongly against the corrupt is that government wants to dispel the notion that action is being taken against a few officials. The CM has also instructed that no one would be allowed to interfere in the screening process, and political influence would not be allowed to to protect the corrupt," sources added. It is in place to mention here that soon after the Mufti-led government took over in March, the government shot a letter to State Vigilance Organization, to prepare a comprehensive list of officers who were involved in 'corrupt practices' or have been rendered as 'dead wood' to summarily dismiss them from services or suggest other kind of action, whose offence in corruption was minor. The SVO was asked to prepare a list of corrupt officials to bring transparency in governance. The SVO submitted a list of 162 tainted officials to the government.
