Fearing backlash, MLA Poonch misleads PDP leaders | Mentions wrong names in invitation letter, keeps them away from LoC | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Aug 16: The MLA Poonch Shah Mohammad Tantray misled his senior party leaders by not allowing them to reach out to the people living near the Line of Control in Poonch, where Pakistan Army has wrecked havoc by resorting to heavy shelling. Sources told Early Times Tantray had to face the wrath of people when he was distributing invitation letters to seek the presence of people at Mandi Poonch to listen to the PDP ministers and leaders Basharat Bukhari and Naeem Akhter. "It's really unfortunate that you didn't visit us after elections ended. Our entire family voted for you but you never came to ascertain whether we are alive or dead as continuous truce violations by Pakistan on the Line of Control (LoC) have made our lives miserable," sources quoted one of the locals Aslam Sheikh as having told Tantray. Like Sheikh many other locals hit out at Tantray and complained that he left them in lurch when they needed him most. "We did not vote for National Conference but NC president Dr Farooq Abdullah despite being warned by the Army not to go towards Line of Control (LoC) reached here and expressed solidarity with us," locals are understood to have told Tantray. Gauging public mood and fearing backlash Tantray changed the venue of the rally, sources said. "Tantray had to face another humiliation when instead of Basharat Bukhari, Altaf Bukhari arrived in Poonch. Tantray had messed up the entire event by mentioning wrong names of the ministers on the invitation letter. Somehow he put a lid over the goof up and took the R&B Minister Altaf Bukhari and other leaders into an area where he had kept his supporters ready to give an impression that all is well," sources added. They said that Tantray kept Bukhari and his team away from LoC just to ensure that people should not complain about him not visiting them in their hour of need. He stage managed the entire show and misled the PDP leaders. |
