Haji Yusuf murder case: Omar is safe till he remains silent 8/17/2015 12:12:55 AM Early Times Report Jammu, Aug 16: It seems BJP leaders have a habit of remaining silent and not uttering a word till they are not targeted or they become the subject of discussion. When Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj visited Jammu last year they advocated that Haji Yusuf murder case, should be taken up by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) but year has passed since then neither the Prime Minister nor the External Affairs Minister has uttered a word over the sensational murder case involving the former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah. Pertinently, Haji Yusuf, a National Conference worker was summoned by the then Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to his residence in Srinagar. When he entered the CM's residence, he was hail and hearty but he was handed over by Omar and his associates to then IGP crime in a moribund condition. Later Haji Yusuf's body was handed over to his family with authorities claiming that he had died due to cardiac arrest. Soon after Haji Yusuf's death his family raised hue and cry and alleged that then Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his aides had murdered him but Police refused to file the FIR and did not take any action. Omar, who was at the helm of the affairs, got the matter probed by a retired judge who on expected lines gave a clean chit to Omar and his aides. Family of Haji Yusuf had pinned lot of hopes on the BJP led Narendra Modi government and were hoping that with the change of guard at centre, New Delhi would intervene and handover the murder case to the country's premier investigating agency CBI but both Modi and Swaraj did lip service and disappointed Haji Yusuf's family apparently to keep Omar happy temporarily. The way BJP led government has handled Lalit Modi's issue it looks like that BJP leaders don't react till they are taken head on. Had Rahul not accused Swaraj's husband and daughter of taking kickbacks from Lalit Modi, Swaraj would not have hit back and alleged that Rahul should ask his mother (Congress president Sonia Gandhi) on how much cash changed hands while protecting Quattrocchi and Anderson. It seems BJP leaders would corner Omar Abdullah the day he raises his voice against them and takes them on. Otherwise BJP leaders are least bothered about fulfilling the aspirations of people. They (BJP leaders) know it very well that Haji Yusuf murder case is like a hanging dagger on Omar's head and they would take him on when time comes.
