OROP: Ex services Men’s enters 59th day | | | Early Times Report Kathua, Aug 16: Demanding implementation of One Rank One Pension (OROP), JK Ex Service Men' ongoing strike entered 59 days, on Sunday, at Saheed Bhagat Singh Park. Col PL Choudhary, Founder Chairman of the association, talking to media persons said that for the last 59 days our retired soldiers who are very old and infirm and Veer Naries are sitting on the roads throughout the country demanding implementation of their long pending demand of one rank one pension (OROP) but it is sad to say that no representative of the Govt has so far spoken to the protesting veterans and veer naries. This shows that the present Govt is arrogant and is at all not bothered about these old veterans who have given their prime of life in the service of this Nation", he said, adding that the veteran are demanding their dues for the last forty years for which they had already rendered their services. Col Choudhary lambasting on the NDA Govt said that the Prime Minister had made this important commitment in his first Election Rally but it is more than 15 months now that the Govt has not fulfilled promised made to the 28 laks pensioners. He said that these old soldiers are not demanding any subsidy or tax benefits but are demanding their right of one rank one pension ie right to equality as enshrined in our constitution. He said that the worst sufferer are the Veer Naries and ESM retired in lower ranks who are getting paltry amount of Rs 7000/- to 10000/- a month which is totally insufficient to make both ends meet in the present days. |
