RBI holds sports, cultural events | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 16 : Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Regional Office Jammu celebrated the Independence Day in different manners involving staff and their families in various sports and cultural events spread over the day. Besides cricket match for those male members of the RBI family, ladies were involved in musical chairs event. When senior were enjoying the sports activities, children took part in lemon race. Young children also participated in painting competition thereby truly understood the meaning of 'Freedom' and importance of 'Independence'. Dr Kamal Sharma adjudged the performance of those who took part in painting competition. The cultural programme marked the end of the day, wherein a variety of events related to dance, singing were presented by the members of the RBI society. This was followed by prize distribution. The cricket match won by Issue Department team which led by Ramesh Chand. Regional Director of RBI, D Sethy was chief guest in the prize distribution function, who appreciated the zeal and enthusiasm among the staff and their families in celebrating the important day. Earlier, Regional Director, D Sethy hosted the tri-colour at Rail Head Complex in the morning, followed by the same function held at the staff colony of the RBI. Speaking to the gathering, he made a remarkable speech remembering the efforts of those social reformers and activists, who have worked in the fields of literature, science and technology. |
