Patients suffer as SDH Surankote sans 'human resources' | | | Early Times Report
Poonch, Jan 5: Although Sub District Hospital (SDH) Surankote was set up to provide quality medicare to people of the area but it is quite dismaying that this state-of-the-art hospital has failed to live to the expectations of people courtesy lack of doctors and paramedical staff." 'Due to a number of reasons which include shortage of doctors and para medical staff, the SDH Surankote is limping itself infont of patient and attendants visiting the hospital, sources said. Sources said, "And the patients who could be treated at this hospital are often referred to either District Hospital Rajouri or to Govt medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu." "This hospital is deficient in medical and paramedical staff as well and against the requirement there are only few countable doctors posted at the hospital," said a local resident. He said that that doctors often show their inability to treat them at Surankote on the pretext that concerned doctor is not available in the hospital. "The costly medical equipments are rusting in the stores of the hospital as there is no expert to handle the equipments, sources in SDH Surankote said, adding, "even during harsh winters the patients have to rush to either Rajouri or Jammu for better treatment even for minor health ailments." They said, "what to talk of general wards, ironically the emergency services in the hospital lack proper functioning for X-ray, Dental fillings and other minor clinical tests and the medicines and diagnostics tests have to be undertaken from the market. Locals have anchored their hopes that the administration should intervene and provide necessary staff that is doctors and technical experts so as this hospital could function in a better way and poor patients of this area can be treated here properly. |
