K Koushal Early Times Report jammu, Jan 5: With the tenth case of recovery in just eleven preceding days, Jammu police has recovered 9 grams of heroin by arresting five narcotic smugglers yesterday during a checking at Miran Sahib area. Police have arrested 18 narcotics smugglers including a constable till today in just eleven days. While the police has tightened its noose on the narcotic smugglers in the city and its peripheries, such action is not gelling with some influential bureaucrats, politicians as well as some high police officials. If the sources are to be believed, such trade is being conducted under the very nose of the administrative heads and the drive conducted by the police is denting their booty also. "Narcotic smuggling is a flourishing trade in the city on which a particular section of the elite society inclusive of politicians, bureaucrats, and even the police thrives. It is only some political pressure that comes for a while which automatically diffuses with the time," said one of the narco smuggler who said his 'business' is also dented these days. Yesterday, Miran Sahib police arrested five drug peddlers and recovered 9 grams of heroin from their possession while 2 grams of heroin was recovered from a drug peddler arrested from Gangyal area. Meanwhile, earlier an intra -district narco smuggler identified as Jailo, son of Roshan Lal, a resident of Rajiv Nagar was held with heroin worth Rs 40,000 from Rajiv Nagar area, falling under the jurisdiction of Narwal police post late last evening. On Dec 28, Police also have arrested a driver identified as Inderpal Singh alias Lovely, s/o Jasbir Singh of Nai Basti, Gandhi Nagar along with heroin worth thousands from Shastri Nagar area, under jurisdiction of Gandhi Nagar police station. Another narcotic smuggler along with heroin from Subash Nagar area, falling under the jurisdiction of Bakshi Nagar Police Station on the same day alongwith 03 gms of heroin from the accused identified as Mangal Singh Chib, son of Jogeshwar Singh, a resident of Smailpur. In a major achievement police arrested a police constable namely Arvind Kapoor, son of Raj Kapoor, a resident of Hari Singh Nagar, Rehari posted at Police Control Room (PCR) Jammu along with heroin (02 gms) and intoxicant tablets from Hari Singh Nagar, Rehari, falling under the jurisdiction of Bakshi Nagar police station on December 27. Prior to this, on December 25 police arrested three narcotic smugglers along with 47 gms of heroin worth Rs 3.76 lakh from Shastri Nagar Chowk, falling under the jurisdiction of Gandhi Nagar police station. The accused have been identified as Anil Kumar alias Chuchu, son of Mohan Lal, Anil Kumar alias Johny, son of Harbans Lal and Amandeep Singh alias Gourav, son of Darshan Singh, trio hailing from R S Pura. |
