Kishtwar, Jan 5: A forest guard and his accomplice today allegedly opened fire at a woodcutter in Tatani Saroor forests of the district, injuring him. Nazir Ahmed (24), son of Mehrab Din of Tatani, and his brother Abdul Qayoom were collecting firewood in Tatani forests when they were intercepted by forest guard Rattan Lal and his accomplice. While they took Nazir with them, they let his brother go, alleged the family members. They alleged that after some time, the guard telephonically informed Qayoom that his brother had sustained an injury due to fall. After they reached the spot, they found Nazir lying in a pool of blood, they alleged. "My brother told me that he was fired upon by the guard," Qayoom claimed, saying he had sustained injuries on the face, hands and in the leg. He said they immediately brought the matter to the notice of police and shifted him to District Hospital, Kishtwar, where he was undergoing treatment.
