Lohri celebrated with fervour across Jammu | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 13: Various Social, Religious, Political organization and others celebrated Lohri with great fervor in Jammu province. The inmates of Jammu Red Cross Society (JRC) Home for Handicapped, Udheywala and Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS)celebrated Lohri with the families of governing body members of home. The function was inaugurates by Former DIG Vijay sambyal, Sat Paul Sharma president Bhartiya Yog Sansthan and others. Over 80 inmates including 20 deaf and dumb unturned about their physical capabilities gave scintillating cultural performance .It was indeed an emotional movements for all the witness the hidden talents of physically challenged inmates who mesmerized the audience with their cultural instincts. The children of executive body JRC Home also presented colorful dances and song with handicapped childrens and BLSKS artists. The Artists of BLSKS staged theme based colorful cultural program focusing the attention of the audience on the importance of the celebration of the day. The festival of 'Lohri and Makr Sankranti' was celebrated by Iron Rush- a complete Family Health Club and Anil Kumar, Rohit Verma, Pushpinder Bharti, Members and Management at Ambika Vihar Greater Kailash were present on the occasion. The traditional fire was lit and various nuts and sweets were offered. The enthusiastic workers danced spontaneously into bangra on the tunes of drum beats and congratulated each other on the occasion. JKNPP celebrated Lohri at different places including in Jammu, all districts of Jammu Pradesh, Punjab and Jantar Mantar, New Delhi at the headquarters in while extending Lohri greetings to all over the country from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and from Nagaland to Gujarat with a strong message that this is time when virtues and truth shall conquer all evil forces throughout the country under the earth, on the earth and in the skies so that there shall be peace, tranquility, progress and humanity shall live in peace, tranquility and with human dignity all over the world. On the occasion of Lohri, a classical music event was organized by Tejpunj Society at 41-B, Karan Nagar, Jammu. All the participants of the event were children below 12 years of age. The Chief guest on the occasion was PK Sambyal, the Director at All India Radio, Jammu. The Guest of honour on the occasion was Dr. Sumit Madan, an instrumentalist par excellence working at Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Jammu while Sanjay Kaul, a Tabla maestro from the same institute was the Special guest of the occasion. Dogra Brahmin Pratinidhi Sabha Prade Jammu today celebrated Lohri festival with fervor and enthusiasm. In this connection a colourful function was held in the premises of Sabha where large number of people from different walk of life were participated it. The function was presided over by President of the Sabha Ved Parkash Sharma. The function was started with Agni Poojan with chanting vedic mantras by the prominent pandits. The social organization Jiyo aur Jeene Do today celebrated Lohri and spread the message of love and brotherhood at Tilak Nagar Udhampur. According to press release, the members gathered at Tilak nagar and also organised a 'Sarva Dharma Prarthna ' and prayed for entire world. Shiv Shakti Sena today wished people of Jammu and Kashmir on the eve of Lohro festival. According to press release, State President, Rakesh Gupta has congratulated greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Rakesh Gupta, prayed to almighty for restoring peace, normalcy, brotherhood and progress in the Jammu and Kashmir State in particular and also all over India. Vikram Malhotra, Gen, Sec,JKPCC here today celebrated "Lohri in the traditional way by lighting bon fire at Hari Nagar locality of ward no .7 along with the residents of the colony. While speaking on the occasion he gave a message of peace and brotherhood and urged upon the people to consign to fire the hatred and the evil within. He wished the people of Jammu a very happy Lohri and MaKkar Sankranti (The Hindu New Year) Others present were Jeet raj (chairman) Ram lal, Atul Sharma, Sandeep Gandotra, Gulshan mehra, happy, Deepu, Poli Devi. BIG FM's unique initiative 'Kudiyan Di Lohri' returns this year to add more sparkle to a girl's life. Big team including RJ Juhie, RJ Manas and RJ Sarang along with a Big Gang of Girls and "Dhol- Nagada" went to the homes of happy families who are welcoming the birth of a girl child in the family. The initiative is also supported by the Bollywood Megastar Amitabh Bachchan who urged people to not only participate in the celebration but make this a daily tradition to celebrate the birth of a girl in the family. Rashi and Ashish, residents of Manda Hills and proud parents of a baby girl shared their happiness in such a way, "We are really happy to be blessed with a daughter. We celebrate every festival for hers with the same happiness as we would have celebrated for a baby boy. We will support her in every manner when she grows up and makes all her dreams come true. Savitri Bai Phule Mahila sangathan (J&K) today celebrates Lohri with its members under the presidentship of Sunita Bangotra. On this occasion she said, this festival is celebrated all over the country especially in North India particularly Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana and Jammu. Later, the Moongphali, and revadis were distributed among the participants. |
