| Kokernag shocker: Mother kills two siblings, makes abortive life bid | | | Saahil Suhail

Anantnag, Jan 13: In a shocking incident, a woman in Larnoo Kokrenag allegedly killed her two children and then attempted to commit suicide.
According to police sources, the incident took place at around 1:00 pm on Wednesday in Khatti Iqbalpora Larnoo village of Kokernag.
Sources said that woman, identified as Ruqiya Begam took this extreme step inside her house in absence of her husband Tariq Ahmad Wagay.
"The deceased siblings have been identified as Imran Ahmad Wagay (4) and his sister Chandni (2) who were declared brought dead by the doctors at Kokernag Hospital, sources added.
They added however their mother -Ruqiya Begam who received critical injuries in suicide attempt was shifted to District Hospital Anantnag for specialized treatment.
Initial police investigation reveal that Ruqiya Begam first killed her two kids and later attempted to commit suicide with sharp edged blade.
A police officer at Larnoo Police Post told Early Times soon after police received information about the incident by locals a police team was rushed to the spot.
"Locals have brought the dead bodies of children and their injured mother in Kokernag hospital," he said.
Police official said that a police party led by SHO Kokernag visited the crime spot, collected the circumstantial evidences from crime spot and recovered the sharp edged weapon used in the crime from the room of accused.
"Dispute with her husband could be the possible reason behind this incident," said police officer while pleading anonymity.
Meanwhile, SSP Anantnag Abdul Jabbar visited the village and assured fair investigation.
FIR 6/2016 US 302 has been registered against the woman and further investigation are on, he informed. |
