PDP leader under scanner for skipping Mufti's funeral | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Jan 13: Two leaders of Peoples Democratic Party, who were ministers in the previous cabinet led by late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, see a bleak future if PDP forms the government again. Of the two, one could see his downfall right on January 7, when Mufti breathed his last. This politician, who was then a minister, skipped the funeral of the late Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed only to stay back in New Delhi to attend a "crucial meeting". Sources said a day after the sad demise of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, when this politician returned to Kashmir, his vehicle was not allowed inside the Fairview residence of the Muftis nor was he allowed to meet Mehbooba Mufti for four days till the Chaharum was held. The plight of this politician, known for "arrogance" in the party, looks the worst. Sources said some of his party colleagues are gossiping that in what capacity he had attended any meeting in Delhi when his ministry ceased to exist after the demise of the Chief Minister. "Shouldn't he have attended the funeral of Mufti Sahib?" some PDP workers asked. This politician got the "biggest shock" of his life to see, veteran politician and PDP stalwart, Muzaffar Hussain Beig, having regained his position in the party even as the latter addressed media at the Fairview. PDP leaders admitted that the conduct of this minister has been under scanner since day government was formed in March 2015. |
