Hospitals without drugs, surgical items 1/13/2016 11:41:20 PM Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 13: Jammu Kashmir Medical Supplies Corporation (JKMSC) has failed to fulfill its commitment that the all drugs, surgical items and others would be delivered in January this years and it seems the drugs would not be delivered before March owing to lackadaisical approach of the department. However, all government hospitals were directed to not purchase any types of drugs and others after December 31st 2015 by Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department owing to which, all government hospitals in the state are facing hardship as do not have enough stock of drugs to treat to patients. Sources in Health Department told Early Times that for last some years, the premier health institutes in Jammu province i.e. Government Medical College and Hospital, Shri Maharaja Ghulab Singh Hospital, CD Hospital, Super Specialty Hospital Jammu as well as District, Sub District Primary Health Centre (PHC) and Community Health Center (CHC) have been managing on their own by purchasing drugs locally. "JKMSC had claimed that all drugs and other items would be provided to all government hospitals in January 2016 and also imposed restriction on hospitals management not to purchase drugs from December 31st because the Corporation was to provide the same, Sources claimed that number of times the issue was brought to the notice of senior officials of Health and Medical Department Jammu and Kashmir as well as JKMSC about the limited stock of drugs available in all government hospitals, but not even single medicine has been provided by the said department so far owing to which the poor patients are deprived of them. "Owing to non-availability of drugs in the government hospitals, is also affecting relation of Doctors and patients as patients accusing them for not providing free medicines to them, a senior doctor told seeking anonymity.
