2500 students to take part in R-Day function

Jammu, Jan 13: Over 2,500 students will be taking part in the Republic Day functions and more than 5,000 school children are expected to witness January 26 proceedings at Jammu amid tight security measures.
"Students from various government and private educational institutions of Jammu division shall be taking part in eight colourful cultural items at Republic Day here," Director General, Youth Services & Sports, Jahangir Mir said.
Mir said over 2,500 students will participate in the cultural items while more than 5,000 school children are expected to witness the proceedings at M A Stadium here.
The event is likely to be attended by Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra as well, he said.
The DG said he has urged concerned officials to ensure cooperation by various departments to make the Republic Day celebrations a grand success.
Tight security measures have been put in place ahead of January 26 here.
