Jammu, Jan 13: KrishiVigyan Kendra (KVK), Jammu under the patronage of Directorate of Extension, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology, Jammu organized one day Animal clinical camp in collaboration with Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-J, R.S. Pura at border village Suchetgarh, R S Pura. Sarpanch, Suchetgarh inaugurated the animal clinical camp. On this occasion, Dr. Sanjay Khar, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Jammu welcomed the farmers and explained about the activities of KVK Jammu in detail and urged the farmers of the area to take full advantage of facilities provided by KVK Jammu. Dr Rakesh Sharma, Senior Scientist, Agriculture Extension elaborated the farmers about the purpose of the Animal clinical camp and requested the farmers to completely utilize the campservices. During the camp, a team of veterinary scientists comprising of Dr. B. Kushwaha, Dr. Sudhir Kumar and Dr. Kafil Hussain with specialization in surgery, gynaecology and medicine from Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, SKUAST-J carried out the diagnostic and clinical works during the camp. More than 100 animals including cattle, buffaloes, goats and dogs were examined and treated during the camp which included the cases of Surgery, Medical and Gynecology. Five surgical operations were also performed on spot. Prescribed medicines for their ailing animals were distributed free of cost to the farmers by KVK Jammu. Dr Punit Choudhary, SMS, KVK Jammu briefed the farmers that the animal sector is the most crucial sector for farmers of the area in supplementing their farm incomes and elaborated upon use of tree fodder for better milk production. Dr. Prem Kumar SMS, KVK Jammu stressed that animal must be examined regularly and proper hygienic conditions should be made for their better health. The villagers praised and thanked whole team of SKUAST-J for organizing such camp in their border area and demanded more programme of this kind periodically to address the problems of diseases and malnutrition in animals.
