Rajouri, Jan 13: Inhabitants of Thannamandi town today have demanded investigation against the revenue officials for their alleged involvement in encroachment of Evacuee Property (EP) measuring 3 kanals and 1 marla.
Demanding probe in regard to alleged encroachments of EP property, locals alleged that revenue officials having a nexus with some vested elements have allotted a piece of land of Evacuee Property (EP) measuring 3 kanals and 1 marla in favor of one Abdul Rashid Shawl son of Mohd Alyas resident of Thannamndi town.
The land in question is situated on the bank of Thannamandi river and presently is being utilized by the inhabitants of the town for grazing purpose and also using it as "Janaza Gha" (to offer Namaz-e-Janaza).
Locals said that the land is situated in Khasra No 768 in ward No 12 & 13 of Thannamandi municipality and as per revenue records the land was allotted to one Abdul Rashid Shawl in 1995 and the allotment was kept secret. "Recently Mohd Shabir while going through some revenue records in the office of Tehsildar noticed the allotment and the matter was brought into the notice of general public" said a source. Immediately after the matter came to light people approached the Deputy Commissioner in the month of September,2015 who directed Tehsildar ,Thannamandi and Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) to investigate the matter and submit their reports. "On the directions from Deputy Commissioner, the matter has been investigated and the report will be submitted to him within next few days" said Rafiq Mughal, Tehasildar, Thannamandi.
He further added that the land was allotted to the beneficiary in the year 1995 by the then Tehsildar and on what considerations, is a matter of further investigation. Meanwhile whistle blower Mohd Shabir has demanded strict legal action against all those involved in the allotment of this property and expressed his concern why the Revenue officials delaying the investigation as the report was demanded by the Deputy Commissioner in the month of September last year. The locals of the area have also appealed to the authorities to take strict action against those involved in the allotment of the land in question within one week otherwise they will left with no option than to come on roads to express their resentment against the concerned higher authorities.
