Illicit relations led to woman's murder
2/28/2016 11:30:07 PM
Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 28: After five years of her murder, police have found out that the woman was killed by her nephew, who had developed illicit relations with her, after he came to know that his aunt had physical relation with another man too.
Neelam Devi alias Leela Devi (40) of Langotian, Miran Sahib, was admitted to SDH, R S Pura, by her nephew Manga Ram alias Vicky on June 14, 2011 with severe injuries. She was referred to GMCH here the same day, police sources said.
Vicky later told their relatives that Neelam was wounded in a road accident on Mamka road, R S Pura. On June 19, 2011, the woman succumbed to her injuries without recording her statement to police.
As the injuries were suspicious, police initiated inquest proceedings. In the meantime, Vicky also shifted to some unknown place. However, after hectic police efforts, he was traced out. During the course of inquiry, police found out that he had developed illicit relations with his aunt after the death of her husband. Since the final medical report was yet to be received, police kept a surveillance on Vicky. After they got the final medical report, it revealed that the woman had died due to serious injuries caused by assault and not by accident. This led to the arrest of Vicky in a murder case, sources said.
During interrogation, he broke down and accepted his involvement in his aunt's murder. He told police that in 2011, he got suspicious about her aunt's illicit relations with some other person also and started keeping a watch on her. On the night of June 13, 2011, he caught his aunt red handed with another man but he controlled his anger that time and left the house. He spent whole night in his Winger vehicle (JK02AH/8354) where he allegedly planned to kill his aunt. To give final shape to the murder plan, he went to Neelam's house in the morning of June 14, 2011 and took her with him in his vehicle with the assurance that he would discuss the matter somewhere else. Reaching a secluded place on Langotian-Khour Road, Miran Sahib, he, however, allegedly started beating her with fists, blows and repeatedly hit an iron rod on her head.
He also hit her with the vehicle. When she got unconscious, her took her to hospital and told relatives that she was injured in an accident. Police had booked him in a murder case and further investigation in the case was in progress.
