Two MGNREGA labourers buried alive at Kither

Kishtwar, Feb 28: : In a tragic incident, two MGNREGA labourers were today buried alive under the debris of a loose rock at Bakkarwal Keri in Kither area of Bunjwan. Two others sustained injuries and were shifted to a health centre.
"It takes six to eight hours to reach the health centre from Kither on foot," official sources said.
The incident took place at around 4 pm when the labourers were busy in construction of a footpath. The dead were identified as Dawood Gujjar (38), son of Noor Mohammad, and Mohammad Yaseen (27), son of Ibrahim Gujjar, both residents of Kither and the injured as Hashim Din, son of Fateh Mohammad, and Mohammad Shafi, son of Noor Mohammad.
Though locals started rescue operation soon after the incident, they could not save the two labourers, sources said.
When contacted, SSP, Kishtwar, Sandeep Wazir confirmed the death of two labourers and said a police party had been rush to the spot from police post, Jawalapur. He assured that police would provide all the possible help in shifting the two injured to nearby heath institution so that their lives could be saved. He said exact details of the incident could be known only after police party returned from there.
Police had registered a case in this connection.
