Father-son duo not on same page!

Early Times Report
srinagar, Feb 28: National Conference patron Dr Farooq Abdullah has once again proved that he and his son Omar Abdullah are not on the same page. Dr Farooq's son and NC working President Omar Abdullah had openly supported the JNU students for raising slogans in the campus, while Dr Farooq has said a few students defamed the entire Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) by raising pro-Afzal Guru slogans.
Soon after the JNU issue snowballed into a major controversy Omar Abdullah criticised the police crackdown on students and urged Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to go 'public with evidence' that proved the JNU students were backed by Hafiz Saeed. He also took a dig at Mehbooba, saying "This is the same BJP Mehbooba is negotiating with to form a Government in J&K, which is under Governor's rule since January 9 this year. No wonder she is completely silent and hasn't said a word about the JNU crack down," he had said in a string of tweets last week.
On Saturday NC president Dr Farooq Abdullah said: "Their (Students) act even troubled innocent students of the varsity. I would never endorse such acts of the students. Whoever did this was wrong. What was the need to exaggerate the issue up to such an extent?"
Two different statements from father-son duo have yet again proved that both of them differ in their opinions. Pertinently, soon after the death of the former Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Dr Farooq Abdullah had extended the hand of friendship towards the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to form the Government in the State by saying, "BJP should make the first move and NC has kept all the options open."
However, a few hours later Omar snubbed his father and made him eat his words. Dr Farooq had to cut a sorry figure by taking a U-turn and saying, "I was quoted out of context."
In Kashmir NC has issued many statements over JNU row and has criticized Centre for slapping sedition charges on JNUSU leader Kanhiya Kumar and other students and has left no stone unturned to strike a chord with the separatists in the Valley.
On the other hand Dr Farooq to address keep people happy in Jammu region criticized the JNU students for holding debate over Afzal Guru. It's an ample proof of NC's "double standards."
"NC leaders want to keep the people of both the regions happy by different statements in Jammu and Kashmir region. This is a hallmark of NC leaders. They have been doing it for ages," said an analyst.
"It seems NC leaders have forgotten that times have changed a news travels very fast from one place to another. Dr Farooq may have criticized JNU event in Jammu with a hope that this news would not fly past Banihal tunnel and would remain confined within Jammu region but that has not happened," the analyst added.
He said, "It's a known fact that NC is a divided house as Dr Farooq leads one faction while his son Omar heads another faction. One should not get surprised over father-son duo issuing contradictory statements."
"Since the day NC has lost power many of its activists have deserted the party and have moved towards greener pastures. At present only a few people have been left in the party and that too stands divided between Omar and his father," the analyst said.
