Ramban, Mar 1: Contiunung its drive against drug peddlers and narcotics smugglers in area of jurisdiction, the District Police Ramban arrested a narcotics smuggler and recovered 15 Kgs poppy straw (bhukki) from his possession here today. "On specific information a police party of Police Station Batote laid a special naka at Baggu Nullah Batote and stopped a Tavera taxi bearing regd no: JK01AP-7637 on its way from Kashmir to Jammu, police spokesperson said here today. He said that during search of vehicle, a gunny bag, packed with poppy straw was found concealed under the passenger seat of vehicle. "On enquiry, the owner of the bag was identified as Sadiq Hussain s/o abdul Kareem, of Sunderani, Tikri Udhampur district, he said. Police said that a case under FIR No: 15/2016 u/s 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered against accused at Police Station Batote and the accused was arrested on the spot. The arrest has been made by police team headed by Station House Officer (SHO) Batote Sameer Jeelani, under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban Randeep Kumar and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Ramban Mohammad Rafiq Choudhary.
