Poonch, Mar 1: Revenue Department of District Poonch has adopted a callous silent approach over numerous issues including the encroachment now has forced Draba locals to file an RTI plea to Tehsildar Surankote seeking administration's response over illegal encroachment of public path stretching from Malik Market Draba to Kamlo-Ki-Gali.
A sleepy village Draba located at the distance of approximately 5 Kms from main Surankote and Bufliaz has its own significance as it houses the famous Gajana-Ki-Phari where Kabali from Pakistan infiltrated but were defeated from Indian Army. Besides this strategic importance, the village is a symbol of Hindu, Muslim, Sikh synchronization and brotherhood but sadly enough the village deprived of all basic amenities including better road connectivity. "Not even a single road has been taken up till date under PMGSY and under any Central either State Government plan, locals alleged.
They said that a stretch of local road starting from Main Road near front of Jamia Masjid Draba to upper Mohallas/Morahas of Draba has been taken up via Public Way (Public Ghaile) which is already in revenue record under Panchyat funds to connect the people of Ghalyote, Malkan Mohallas, Baryabaryan, Manada, Phagliyan, Chandrasi, Khet, Danna, Kamalo-Ki-Gali, Sangyote, Dhuriyan and Historical Gajana-Ki-Phari.
"More than 99% primarily work of the road has been completed only 1% (one percent) is pending. But some people who have constructed shops, stairs and encroached the public (Ghaile) way - the government land by using all ill means and by pressurizing the poor people of area not to get road constructed.
Locals alleged that repeated attempts have been made to get their issue resolved by taking up the matter to the concerning administration including Deputy Commissioner Poonch but all attempts turned futile till date. And all this has forced local to file an RTI plea to Tehsildar Surankote Office to seek detail information in regard to 'public pathway in question.'
