jammu, Mar 1: In a PIL seeking strict implementation of J&K Water Resources (Regulation and Management) Act, 2010 in the state, a high court division bench of Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Bansi Lal Bhat today directed PHE chief engineer to redress the grievances expressed in the petition within eight weeks.In the PIL, a request was also made to the bench that those, who fail to discharge their statutory obligation as enumerated under section 20 of the Act, be penalized. A submission was also made that it be declared by way of a notification. The bench, after hearing the petitioner's counsel, observed that main grievance of the petitioner was that inspite of filing representation on December 7, 2015 before the PHE chief engineer and even suggestions were also given for installing water alarms to avoid overflowing of water, no action had been taken by him. The bench directed the chief engineer to consider the representation filed by the petitioner and take appropriate steps to redress the grievances expressed by the petitioner in the petition within eight weeks.
