Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 1: Gujjars United Front strongly condemned the unprovoked firing/demolition drive at Sarore by the District Authorities Samba in a meeting held at at Gujjar Cooney, Jammu. In the meeting several leaders of Gujjar community from District Jammu, Samba, Udhampur, Doda, Ramban, Rajouri & Poonch participated and all the speakers strongly condemned the unprovoked firing/demolition drive at Sarore by the District administration. They alleged poor/helpless nomad Gujjars were suddenly attacked, their houses were burnt by the Police and women, children, aged people were mercilessly beaten. This attempt of authorities is highly condemnable. After this incident some state government officials visited them and promised that government shall provide necessary help and shall provide temporary tented accommodation. Till date only two tents are provided and people are left at the mercy of Nature. This attitude of State authorities towards this defence less nomad/tribal community is very unfortunate and condemnable. All right thinking people especially entire Gujjar population of state is disheartened and in anger against this act of some vested elements in administration. Speakers requested/ stressed upon the Governor & Divisional commissioner, Jammu to order a judicial probe & culprits brought to book and punished. |
