Union Budget bring disappointment for refugees, Border people & DPs: Manjit Singh | | | Early Times Report VIJAYPUR, Mar 1: Terming union budget as disappointing for the middle class, former Minister and senior Congress leader Manjit Singh on Tuesday said the displaced persons and refugees of Jammu and Kashmir have been betrayed by the ruling Bharatiya Janta Party. Chairing monthly meeting of the Congress workers in Vijaypur assembly constituency, Manjit Singh said that the people especially refugees, west Pak refugees and displaced persons were hopeful with regard to the Union Budget. However, they were disappointed by the central government led by BJP which had promised compensation to the refugees as well as Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) displaced persons. General Secretary, JKPCC, Manjit Singh said that the BJP did not give approval to the over Rs 9000 Crores package for the PoK and refugees. "This package was send by the State Government to the Union Government for its nod but the BJP government has not accepted it and returned it back," they added. He said that the BJP had announced Rs 2000 Crores for the refugees but it too was not fulfilled on ground. "There is nothing on ground on the name of package for the poor refugees or displaced persons. The BJP only made hollow slogans," he said. He appealed Governor NN Vohra to take up matter of package for the refugees and displaced persons with Central Government so that it could be approved and given to the DPs/refugees. Taking a dig at the saffron party, Manjit Singh said that they had also promised during elections about issuance of State Subjects to the West Pakistanis. |
