JAMMU, March 1 : All Jammu and Kashmir Chess Association has been allotted with the task to host South Asian Amateur Chess Championship at summer capital of Srinagar in the month of September. This was disclosed by the president of the Association, Atul Gupta, who happens to be Joint Secretary of the All India Chess Federation, in an interaction to media here today. "The All India Chess Federation has assigned us with the task to host South Asian Amateur Championship to be held in the month of September at Srinagar," said Atul Gupta. The week-long event is expected to take place at Sher-e-Kashmir Indoor Stadium, Srinagar from September one to September six. "About 250 participants from SAARC nations, including 75 from host India, shall compete for top honours in this prestigious event, first of its kind in the state," added Gupta. In total, Rs ten lakh worth cash prizes will be given away to those emerging outstanding in different categories. Appointments with regard to Arbiter and seven Deputy Arbiters shall be made by the president of Asian Chess Federation. "The event will be played under FIDE Laws of Chess under following Swiss system. Total nine rounds will be played. There are special prizes for veterans, women and young players," informed vice president of the Association, Baldev Raj. Last date of entry for the event is July one and with prescribed late fee the entries can be submitted upto August one.
