BJP out to barter Jammu's interests for power: Hari Om | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 7: Commenting on the possibility of BJP accepting the divisive and unsettling demands of the Kashmiri party to again become part of J&K Government, Prof Hari Om on Monday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take people of Jammu province and the concerned nation as a whole into confidence before taking any decision on government formation. J&K State is a sensitive state and it has to be handled carefully taking into consideration the fact that the unity and integrity of India depends wholly and solely on what happens in J&K, he said in a written statement. He added that a wrong decision would undo all that the nation did in the state during the past seven decades to integrate it into India and uphold the sovereign interests of the country in the separatist and militant-infested J&K. "It's time for PM Modi to review the 'agenda of alliance' and its ramifications for the unity and integrity of the country and national sovereignty. It's also time for him to assess if the participation of BJP in J&K Government helped or harmed the nation. It's also time for him to appreciate the national sentiment that is against any kind of truck with the pro-self-rule, pro-Pakistan, pro-Afzal Guru and pro-separatist Kashmiri party and a party that says day-in and day-out that it will form government in J&K only if it is empowered to achieve its 'larger aim' and fulfil the urges and aspirations of 'alienated' Kashmiris," said Prof. Hari Om, adding that a hasty and wrong decision of New Delhi to strike a power-sharing deal over the heads of people of Jammu and the nation will only help Pakistan and its Kashmir-based agents and operatives to achieve what they had been striving to achieve since October 1947 by blooding and convulsing the state's political scene. People of Jammu represent the nation and national interest in J&K, asserted Prof Hari Om, adding that they have suffered enormous socio-economic and political losses willingly and cheerfully for protecting and advancing further the national interest in the state during all these years of accession. It is because of their supreme sacrifices and splendid contribution that Kashmir is within India and it is they, and they alone, whose sacrifices brought J&K at par with other states of the Union to an extent, he further asserted. He added that Jammu's full political empowerment is imperative for maintaining the national unity and defeating the nefarious games which are being played in Kashmir by Kashmiri leaders of all hues under the bogey of "alienation". Prof Hari Om also urged the Prime Minister to reject outright the suggestion of the RSS ideologue Rakesh Sinha that "Kashmir, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh can't be treated equally with other states of the Union", saying this nasty suggestion, if accepted, would only embolden secessionists in other parts of the country to heighten their hate and break-India activities. "The suggestion of the RSS ideologue that Kashmir, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh are a different ball game and they needed to be treated differently is as outrageous as it is condemnable. India is one country, one nation and one people," asserted Prof Hari Om, and added that the RSS' suggestion only indicated that its whole concept of India and on India is highly flawed. Kashmir, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh are integral part of India like other states of the Union and to accord a differential treatment to these states would be only to accord respectability to the perverted Indian Left which believes and preaches that India is a congregation of many nations and each nation has the right to secede from India. He urged the Prime Minister to use Article 370 to abrogate it so that J&K is brought at par with other states of the Union. |
