BJP 'mysteriously silent' on role of Kashmiri students in JNU incident | | | Kunal Shrivatsa Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 7:The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) is continuously demanding stern action against a group of students believed to be involved in raising alleged anti-India slogans ever since the incident occurred on February 9 last on Jawahar Lal Nehru University (JNU) campus. On one hand the BJP is mincing no words in hitting out at Kanhaiya Kumar and other student leaders of JNU including Anirban Bhatacharya, Omar Khaled, Rama Naga and Ashutosh while on the other hand the saffron party is mysteriously silent over the role of some Kashmiri students, who according to report of Delhi Government were outsiders and were actual perpetrators of the anti-India sloganeering. Neither the BJP's central leadership nor the state unit has sought detention of those non-JNU Kashmiri students who were present while anti-national slogans were being raised on JNU campus is verified by none else than the District Magistrate of New Delhi, Sanjay Kumar, who submitted a detailed report on this behalf to the Delhi Government. However, the BJP's attack is confined only to Kanhaiya and other student leaders while it deliberately playing down the dubious role of some Kashmiri students in the JNU incident lest it annoyed Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP), who was its alliance partner till two months back. Though other student leaders allegedly responsible for indulging in anti-India sloganeering were booked under act of sedition and few of them including Kanahaiya, Anirban and Khaled were also arrested, no attempts were made by the Delhi Police to trace out the Kashmiri students, who according to Delhi Government report were very much part of the sinister campaign on JNU campus. But, the state BJP leaders who never lose an opportunity to project their party as most nationalist outfit are conspicuous with their silence over the role of Kashmiri students as in the last one month they hardly made any mention of the involvement of such anti- India elements from Kashmir. Even though it has been established that few non-JNU Kashmiri students were part of the mob which raised anti-national slogans as the videos shot by JNU security staff clearly show their presence, however, the saffron party's criticism only remained focus on Kanhaiya and others while it suitably chose not to hit out at those Kashmiri students who were equally responsible for whatever happened on JNU campus. |
