Rifle snatching bid: Another alleged 'assaulter' held | | | Saahil Suhail

Kulgam, Mar 7: A youth allegedly involved in an infamous 'Qaimoh Kulgam rife snatching bid' was arrested on Monday when he returned to his home to mourn the death of his father who suffered cardiac arrest on late Sunday. Reports said that youth identified as Wasim Ahmad Bhat was arrested today by police and army when he returned home to mourn his father's death. "Wasim's father Mohd Akber Bhat resident of Qaimoh Kulgam, according to reports suffered cardiac arrest on Sunday evening when forces bragged into his house, sources said. Meanwhile a senior police official confirmed the arrest of another accused by asserting that security forces have arrested another youth who had made an abortive bid to snatch a rifle from an employee guarding State Bank of India (SBI), Qaimoh when the guard was in Wanpoh area of district. Earlier a rifle snatching bid was foiled, when two unknown persons had attempted to snatch a rifle from SBI guard in Kaimoh town after spraying chili powder into his eyes on February 24. However the guard, Shafiq Ahmad- a retired police constable showing exemplary courage had however managed to hold on to his rifle despite the burning sensation of pain in his eyes and raised alarm to seek help and locals rushed to his help forcing assailants to flee from spot. |
