Srinagar, Mar 7: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Monday gave indication that she was ready to go with the BJP to form Government in the State.
"Mufti sahab ka faisla pather ki lakeer hai (The decision of Mufti Sahab is final)," Mehbooba said while deliberating on the alliance with the BJP during a function in the frontier district of Kupwara.
However, she cautioned that the Government formation with the BJP was not possible until the Centre steps in with Confidence Building Measures, as discussed in the 'Agenda of Alliance' between the two parties.
"Unhunay yeh qadam bohut soch samaj kar uthaya hay. Unka faisla mera faisla. Lekin unka agenda of alliance bhi aham hay. (He [Mufti] took this decision after a clear understanding. His decision is mine but Agenda of Alliance is also important)," she said.
Mehbooba said that she won't prove her father wrong. "Mein aisa kuch nahin karungi ke unka faisla galat ya jhoota saabit hojaye," (I will not do anything which can prove his (Mufti's) decision wrong). Mehbooba was talking to reporters on the sidelines of party's membership drive in Kupwara.
The sources in PDP, however, said that Mehbooba wants assurances from none other than the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on return of power projects as committed in the AoA and also reconciliation with the Pakistan.
A PDP legislator, wishing not to be named said that all the legislators are building pressure on the Mehbooba to form the Government and none is in favour of going for polls as situation on ground is not feasible for elections. "We even told her that a militant's funeral attracts more crowd than those who turned up for the Mufti Mohammad Sayeed's funeral," he said.
The BJP on the other hand, is in no mood to give concessions. "We had framed a draft called AoA and that is final. Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Kashmir ample times and announced Rs 80,000 crore package," one of the BJP leader said.
