Mir loses support of Sharma brothers | | | Early Times Report jammu, Mar 7: The attempt of G MA Mir to strike balance between the arch rivals is likely to cost him heavily as powerful Sharma brothers (Sham Lal Sharma and Madan Lal Sharma) are learnt to have felt annoyed over participation of the PCC president in the public meeting, organized by former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand at Jorian, yesterday. According to the sources in Congress circles, Sharma brothers have conveyed their displeasure to Mir over his participation in the scheduled programme despite their warning against the same and made it clear to the PCC president that he should not expect their support in future. This development has virtually rendered the PCC president an orphan, who is now not being supported by either group in the State unit of Congress. While Azad camp was already annoyed with Mir following non inclusion of the group members in Pradesh Congress Committee, the fresh development has distanced the PCC president from Sharma brothers also. Even as Mir is claiming that he participated in Tara Chand's public meeting for forging unity in the party, sources said that the strategy in this regard was devised on the instance of Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is not happy with incumbent president in the wake of alleged sidelining of his camp in J&K. Under the strategy, sources explained, Tara Chand first conveyed his displeasure with the PCC president over not taking him into confidence and after Mir complained that Azad camp was not giving him response over organizational programmes, the former immediately offered to organize a grand public rally in his constituency. Before Mir could understand that his participation in Tara Chand’s rally would distance him from Sharma brothers, his only support in entire Jammu region, it was too late and the consequence is now well estimated already. |
