HC dismisses PIL on admission to diploma courses | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 7: A high court division bench of Chief Justice N Paul Vasanthakumar and Justice Bansi Lal Bhat today dismissed for 'default and non-prosecution' a PIL, seeking the quashing of August 14, 2014 circular issued by secretary of J&K State Board of Technical Education whereby provisional selection list of candidates for admission to 3-year diploma courses against left over seats was issued after inviting applications through advertisements from candidates. It was submitted in the PIL that this selection process 'runs parallel and simultaneous to the selection process already initiated by BOPEE through entrance examination as the only authorised competent authority to conduct entrance and select the candidates for the said professional courses'. The bench observed that when the matter was taken up on February 25, 2016, there was no representation on behalf of the petitioner and the matter was directed to be listed for dismissal but when the matter was called, there was no representation. With these observations, the bench dismissed the petition for default and for non-prosecution. (JNF) |
