udhampur, Mar 7: The Annual Maha Shivratri-cum-Grameen Mela was held at Khooneshwar Aap Shambu Temple, Khoon, Majalta, here today. The Mela was inaugurated by CMO Udhampur Dr Chander Prakash who was chief guest on the occasion. The Maha Shivratri-cum-Grameen mela was organized by District administration Udhampur in collaboration with Destitute and Handicapped Welfare Association (DAHWA). While speaking on the occassion Dr Chander Prakash said that celebrating such festivals besides symbolizing unity in diversity also provide a common platform to the local people to interact with each other and share culture and tradition which further helps in strengthening the bond of brotherhood and communal harmony. Earlier, Chairman DAHWA, Surat Singh Sumbria in his welcome address urged the people to come forward and avail maximum benefits of various schemes of the government to raise their socio-economic standards. Various departmental stalls for providing the first hand information regarding different government schemes were also established by the district administration on the occasion. Scintillating cultural programme featuring folk music and dance, Dogri Songs were also presented by the Information Department during the mela. Among others, BMO Mohinder Kumar, Cultural Officer Information department Jammu, Raman Joshi, Sarpanches, Panches, prominent citizens and large number of devotees were also present on the occasion. |
