Jammu, Mar 7 : Indian Doctors for Peace and Development (IDPD), an affiliate of Nobel Peace Prize winner International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW), has elected a noted Jammu based doctor Dr S S Soodan as its President in the 10th Annual National Conference of IDPD held at Patna this year. According spokesperson IDPD Indian Chapter, the said conference was attended by delegates of IPPNW including delegates of various other countries- Germany, Japan, Kazakhstan, Philippines, Nepal, Bangladesh, Indonesia and Mongolia. During the proceedings of meeting the delegates elected Dr S S Soodan, a leading eye specialist of J&K as the President IDPD. In his thanks giving address after being elected as president IDPD, Dr Soodan said violence as a disease and expressed his concern on formulating ways to combat and prevent its spread in the society. Highlighting the efforts of IDPD in the past to bring peace and development he hoped that the measures will gain more momentum and the organization IDPD will keep on working with a moto of 'Health for All'. Earlier interactive sessions on the steps for peace, health and development were held in the conference between IDPD delegates from different states of the country, the Pan Asian students and other international delegates. |
