After suffering major blows, militants plan major strike in Valley | | | Early Times Report srinagar, Mar 9: Police and security forces have been put on high alert across Kashmir as there are inputs about militants are planning a major strike, sources told Early Times. They said, "Militant handlers sitting across the Line of Control (LoC) have directed the ultras to intensify the attacks on security forces as they have suffered major blows since the beginning of this year." Sources said, "Successful operations carried out by Police, Army and paramilitary forces during the past few months have frustrated the militants and their bosses sitting in Pakistan. They are desperate to make their presence felt." A police official said, "Police have developed a strong intelligence base during the past months and it has proved very helpful in eliminating the militants. They (militants) are on the run and want to launch a counter offensive but we won't let them succeed." About the inputs that militants are planning a major strike the official said, "A group more than 10 militants are believed to be trapped at Awantipura in south Kashmir and a few militants have been trapped on city outskirts near Hazratbal. We believe we have got them." He said, "Our intelligence grid being on toes has made the life difficult for the militants and they are finding it hard to operate. There is nothing to worry about as our forces are capable of giving a befitting reply to militants." A police official said that forces have been put on high alert to ensure that militants don't enter into Srinagar city. "We have secured the city and strict vigil is being maintained on the entry and exit points," he added. Sources said that advent of Spring in Kashmir can lead to Pakistan trying to push militants into this side. "As per our reports militants are waiting at launching pads in Pakistan occupied Kashmir and in coming days infiltration attempts may increase. The counter infiltration grid on LoC has stepped up the vigil and vulnerable points are being manned," sources added. A police official said, "A strategy is being devised to ensure that no law and order problem takes place near the encounter sites. An advisory has already been issued asking people to stay away from the sites of gunfight as sometimes militants take advantage of the crowd and try to break the cordon. All strategies are being reworked to keep the militants at bay. Forces are working in close coordination with each other and have succeeded in breaking the back of militancy in Jammu and Kashmir." An analyst said, "Pakistan is fighting a lost war in Kashmir and it is high time for them to realize that their game is over." |
