ET Report jammu, Mar 9: In the wake of JNU controversy, the intelligence agencies are learnt to have put all universities in Jammu and Kashmir on their radar and intensified vigil on the campuses here, particularly Jammu University. Even as all campuses of the universities are already under constant gaze of the intelligence agencies with their men deployed there for round the clock reporting of events, the incident of JNU has sounded an alert for extra ordinary vigil. According to reliable sources, special instructions in this regard have been issued to ensure that the institutions of higher learning may not be used by the unwanted elements for their alleged anti-national activities. For the purpose, sources said, the agencies are identifying a section of students and the faculty members as possible sympathizers of the protagonists of Azadi, whose activities are under close watch for the last few days. Besides, a special vigil is being maintained on the outsiders visiting campus and the hostels, sources added. In the process of identifying the suspected elements, sources informed that the agencies are also trying their best to locate whereabouts of the group of students, who were allegedly under the influence of Naxalites and had been organizing their activities on the campus. Alleged anti-national activities of this group had come to light after a clash of students at the cafeteria in JU campus, a few years ago, after which a few of these were rusticated from the university. Even as members of this group are apparently not active on the campus, sources said that a few faculty members, who were alleged godfather of these students, are still serving in the university and possibility of their attempts in brainwashing the minds of their pupil cannot be ruled out. |
