'Irresponsible Cong turns far Left, supports JNU anarchists' | | | Early Times Report jammu, Mar 9: The Congress, which all through treated J&K differently on the ground that it was a Muslim-majority region, has now crossed all the red lines and swung solidly behind the JNU anarchists, including a gang of teachers and students, who want to overthrow the elected Government at the Centre and also want India to break into pieces. First, it was AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi who went to JNU campus to extend his support to those who had raised anti-India slogans, batted for Kashmir's azadi and glorified the convicted terrorists like Afzal Guru and Maqbool Bhat. Traitors like Omar Khalid were very much present when Rahul Gandhi addressed the anti-nationals and condemned the Union Government and the Delhi Police for the stand that they took on the anti-India event. He shamelessly said that the JNU students should be given the right to free speech and threatened that the Congress party would oppose any move that was directed against the JNU teachers and students. He left none in any doubt that he and the Congress party was with the highly undesirable Indian Left. Remember, the Indian Left has always batted for the right to self-determination for Kashmiri Muslims, saying they constituted a distinct nation. In fact, the Indian Left never considered India a nation; it considered India a conglomerate of several nations. As per the nasty Adhikari thesis, each and every nationality that constituted India had the right to secede from India. By joining the Left-dominated stage at the JNU, Rahul Gandhi virtually endorsed the Adhikari thesis. It now appears that the entire Congress party has turned far Left. For, AICC president and chairperson of the now almost defunct UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, too, has expressed similar views. She has charged the BJP-led NDA Government with putting restrictions on the right to free-speech and threatened that the Congress party will not allow the Government put any curb on the right to free-speech. The stand of the Congress party and the Indian Left on what has been going on in the JNU evoked a very sharp reaction from the people across the nation. According to one survey which was conducted on Tuesday by a leading channel, 97 per cent of the respondents have demanded stringent action against those involved in anti-national activities in the JNU campus. The survey was conducted in the wake of the March 7 debate in JNU on nationalism. One of the teachers Nivedita Menon, who addressed about 300 students, supported the demand in Kashmir for right to self-determination and azadi and gave a clean chit to those who had participated in the anti-India event on February 9. She even questioned the Indian presence in Manipur and Nagaland. She even went to the extent of saying that 30 to 40 per cent area of India is under the illegal occupation of the Indian Army. That almost 100 per cent of the respondents demanded action against the said teacher and similar other teachers in the JNU only shows that the nation is fed up with what has been happening in JNU. There is a view that what was done in the JNU on February 9 and thereafter was a part of bigger conspiracy that has been hatched by the enemies of India. This view cannot be dismissed as ridiculous. Indeed, the situation in the country is very alarming and that all the concerned Indians have started saying that the unity of India is in danger. |
