Early Times Report jammu, Mar 9: A DSP, posted in a peripheral Jammu area, has gained notoriety for allegedly being part of a cattle smuggling ring. Police sources said PHQ was flooded with complaints against him, mostly by his subordinates. A secret PHQ probe had revealed his involvement in cattle smuggling, the sources added. A departmental action was now likely to be initiated against him, followed by his transfer to some other place, sources said, adding that there was also a move to keep him off any significant posting in future. His residence falls in the close vicinity of Jammu in another district. Most of the complaints against him have been lodged by his subordinates, including a SHO. "In his complaint, the SHO has alleged that the DSP has been pressurising him and his other subordinates to let cattle smugglers carry on their unlawful activities without booking them," sources alleged, saying cattle smuggling had picked up considerably in the areas that "fall under his jurisdiction". "At police nakas also, the DSP does not let cops to intercept cattle-loaded vehicles of smugglers," sources alleged, saying the SHO had also given in written a detail of all the alleged illegal activities of the senior officer in his complaint. He became so upset that he even requested his seniors to transfer him to other place. Sources said though the seniors later agreed to his request, they had also made up their mind to take departmental action against the DSP. |
