Early Times Report
Srinagar, Mar 9: The State unit of the BJP wasn't privy to what was being settled behind the close door meetings between the party high command and the top PDP leadership over the Government formation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources divulged that the State unit of the BJP wasn't kept in loop over the parleys and that it was the Union Government, BJP high command and some PDP's top leaders who held the closed door meets to end the two month long logjam in the State. "No, as much as I know, the State BJP leaders weren't part of those meetings that were held to finalise the Government formation in the State. I mean why should have the State unit of the BJP part of the discussion when its high command was very much into it. It was already clear that the State unit of the BJP had authorised its high command to hold deliberations- its coming into the scene was somewhat un called for entity," sources said.
It was informed further that there has been no communication between the State BJP leaders and those PDP men who were part of the discussion in the Government formation. At the time when the impasse is all set to end after Mufti Mohammad Sayeed's demise, the startling revelations over how it was only the BJP high command dominating the scenes, are coming to fore.
The revelations could be substantiated by the fact that there were contradictory statements coming from the State leaders of the BJP when they were asked to comment over the progress done into the Government formation. The BJP leaders in the State were either seen shrugging their shoulders or issuing the statements that were not depicting the clear picture.
As one BJP leader was seen expressing optimism, the other was claiming a major breakthrough in days. "There was no discussion with the State BJP over when and how the Government will be formed. They were not part of the discussions. Only the high command was holding hectic parleys that too with some PDP leaders. The other leaders of the PDP too didn't know what really was happening," sources said.
Meanwhile, there are high chances of the State witnessing the new Government very soon of the PDP- BJP alliance. The two parties have almost finalised the deal and the announcement over the same shall be made within days.
So far the leaders of PDP along with the BJP high command and the Union Government have preferred silence and no final word is being issued to press. The speculations earlier were rife that the PDP has chosen to break the alliance and pitch for the mid term polls. However such assertions were later nullified by none other than the PDP chief itself who termed the alliance as 'Pather Ki Lakeer' and said she would follow the path which her father decided to tread last year.
