Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 9: Continuing its drive against bovine smugglers, the police today foiled two separate bids with the arrest of seven bovine smugglers and rescuing 28 bovine animals from their clutches during naka checkimng in Satwai and Nagrota. Police said, "The accused namely Feroz Ahmed (driver) of Awantipura, Mohd Latief of Miran Sahib, Kesar Ahmed of Budgam and Sharif of Gidargaliyan were arrested by Satwari Police and three others namely Rashid of Dulligam Banihal presently at Nai-Basti Khanpur, Mohd Khan of Panchari Udhampur presently at Jhari and Zakir Hussain of Kharpora Anantnag were arrested by Nagrota police." "On specific information Satwari police raised a special Naka at Jeevan Nagar Satwari and intercepted a truck bearing registration number JK03C- 9127, police said. "On thorough checking of truck police team found 14 Bovine animals loaded in it in a cruel manner in the truck, police said, while adding, "the animals were rescued from truck and bovine smugglers including truck driver namely Feroz Ahmed, Mohd Latief, Kesar Ahmed and Sharif were arrested on the spot." The arrests were made by SHO Satwari, Manjeet Singh alongwith SDPO South, Sachin Gupta under the supervision of SP South Shahjad Salaria under the directions of SSP Jammu Dr Sunil Gupta. Meanwhile a case under FIR no 47/2016 has been registered at Police Station Satwari. Yet in another similar incident Nagrota police foiled a bovine smuggling bid with the arrest of three persons and rescuing 14 bovines "At about 12:30 hrs one truck bearing registration number JK18-9047 was intercepted at Toll Plaza Bantalab," police spokesperson said, adding, "Police rescued 14 bovine animals being Illegally smuggled towards Kashmir valley and arrested three accused Abdul Rashid, Mohd Khan and Zakir Hussain on the spot, police said. A case under FIR.No.62/2016 u/s 188 RPC and 3/5 PCA Act stands registered against the accused in Police Station Nagrota and further investigations are on. |
