Major portion of JK owned land at New Delhi under occupation of Ministry of Defence: Govt | | | Ishtiyaq Ahmad Early Times Report Srinagar, Jun 2: The Jammu and Kashmir government Thursday informed legislative Assembly that major portion of JK owned land in New Delhi is under the occupation of the Ministry of Defence. In a written reply, the Minister incharge, Hospitality and Protocol has said that the Government of Jammu and Kashmir owned property comprising of 14.32 Acres (114K-11.2M) of land with built up area popularly known as Kashmir House New Delhi. However the minister has maintained that a major portion of land is under the occupation of the Ministry of Defence and so far only 17.4 kanals of land which houses the 75 number of staff quarters of J&K government is in possession of Jammu and Kashmir government. The government has said that the issue with respect to vacation of land has already been taken up with the Ministry of Defence Government of India and Directorate of Estates, Government of India. The government has also informed that the renovation work of top floor of B- Block Guest House at Chanakyapuri stands completed by the Jammu and Kashmir PWD, New Delhi and three number of VIP suites have been constructed on the top floor of B- Block. However the government has mentioned that the construction of additional accommodation at Kashmir House, Raja Ji Marg, and New Delhi would only be possible as and when adequate land is retrieved from the ministry of Defence, government of India. |
