Garbage dumps mocks Swach Bharat Abhiyan' in Ramban 6/2/2016 11:37:49 PM Tahir Mushtaq Early Times Report RAMBAN, June 2: The piles of garbage are mocking the glittering advertisements about 'Swach Bharat Abhiyan' in Ramban town as the Municipal Committee (MC) Ramban has adopted a negligent attitude towards the maintenance of cleanliness and hygiene in various parts of township. With the increase in temperature the dumped garbage are emitting foul smell causing inconvenience to the passersby. Due to the garbage the drains often get choked and clogged at many places resulting sewage water overflowing to roads giving odd times to pedestrians. "This also has affected the smooth movement of vehicles, said a local trader. One can easily get a glance of these dumps of garbage in the various areas viz. Bus Stand, Cafeteria Parking, Shahidi Chowk and Masjid Market besides other part of the town. Many times the dump has also affected the movement of the vehicles and the double road has turned into single with the huge dump. Another trader also lamented that In the absence of proper space for Solid Waste Dumping area, the garbage collection vehicles of MC throw be all the town waste material in the river Chenab and polluting the river which is also a cause of concern. When contacted Municipal Committee (MC) Executive Officer Ramban Zubaida Begum said MC has put many dustbin in different area now it's the responsibility of citizens to put the garbage in these dustbins and not outside. "People also ought to be true to their citizen's duties, she said, adding, "they should not throw garbage once the municipal employees have cleaned the area on routine.
